“BT Unveils Smart Hub 3: Enhanced Security & Performance”

BT has introduced a new method for internet access, offering more than just connectivity. The upcoming Smart Hub 3 Wi-Fi router from the company not only enhances connection strength but also incorporates various security features.

Among its features is technology that can automatically identify risky websites, alerting users before potential malware or online threats pose a danger. Additionally, it can detect hacker attempts to breach smart home devices like internet-connected cameras, preemptively blocking suspicious activities.

Users will have the ability to monitor identified threats through the Hub Threat Protect feature in the MyBT app. These enhancements are designed to enhance online security for households and proactively prevent cyberattacks.

In addition to security, the Smart Hub 3 prioritizes performance. Supporting Complete Wi-Fi Plus, it extends signal coverage across the home, minimizing dead zones in weaker areas.

As revealed in images from Mirror Online, the Smart Hub 3 boasts a sleek, minimalist design with a small BT logo at its center.

A notable detail is that the router is compatible with Wi-Fi 6 rather than the newer Wi-Fi 7 standard present in some rival devices, including EE routers. While Wi-Fi 7 offers faster speeds, lower latency, and improved reliability, many current devices do not yet support it, making Wi-Fi 6 more than adequate for most households and a significant upgrade from older Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 equipment.

For those interested in acquiring this new router, BT’s Smart Hub 3 will be accessible to new customers, with certain existing users potentially eligible for an upgrade.

Regarding the distinction between Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7, Wi-Fi 6 improved wireless performance by enhancing speed, efficiency, and capacity compared to Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4. Wi-Fi 7 takes this further with wider 320 MHz channels, reduced latency, and even higher speeds, making it particularly beneficial for gaming, 8K streaming, and advanced smart home configurations. For most users presently, Wi-Fi 6 remains an excellent choice, while Wi-Fi 7 provides a more future-proof solution.
