“Apple Unveils Upgraded AirTag with Enhanced Precision Finding”

Apple’s AirTag is a must-have for those prone to misplacing keys. Launched in 2021, these small, disc-shaped trackers quickly gained popularity for their ability to pinpoint lost items on a map. Due to their compact size, AirTags can easily attach to keys, fit into bags, laptop cases, or luggage.

When in close proximity to the tag, your iPhone provides precise on-screen directions, and the AirTag can emit a sound to aid in locating it. The latest AirTag model, just revealed, boasts an upgraded Ultra Wideband chip, offering an enhanced range.

Apple claims this update enhances Precision Finding by up to 50%, making it easier to locate lost items from greater distances. Additionally, Precision Finding is now supported on select Apple Watch models, enabling users to track down misplaced items directly from their wrist.

The new AirTag features a redesigned internal speaker that emits sounds 50% louder than its predecessor, making it ideal for finding it in hard-to-reach places. The device continues to utilize Apple’s Find My network, utilizing nearby Apple devices to relay location updates anonymously. This system prioritizes privacy, with AirTags not storing location history and all communication with the Find My network being encrypted end-to-end for owner-exclusive access.

Moreover, the new AirTag seamlessly integrates with Share Item Location, an iOS function allowing users to securely share an item’s location with trusted third parties, such as airlines, to aid in recovering lost belongings. Apple has collaborated with over 50 airlines to support this feature.

The latest AirTag can now be ordered from apple.com/uk and the Apple Store app, with in-store availability expected later this week. Prices start at £29 for a single AirTag or £99 for a pack of four, making it more budget-friendly compared to the original, which debuted at £35.
