Apple has officially unveiled its latest smartphone, the iPhone 17e, confirming earlier speculations. Following the iPhone 16e, the new model maintains Apple’s trend of offering key features at a more budget-friendly price compared to its premium counterparts.
Priced at £599, the iPhone 17e is over £200 cheaper than the iPhone 17 and £500 less expensive than the 17 Pro. Notably, it now comes with 256GB of storage as the base capacity, a significant increase from its predecessor.
Enhancing performance, Apple has incorporated the A19 chip in the iPhone 17e, providing a substantial upgrade from the A18 processor in the previous model. The inclusion of Apple’s latest C1X cellular modem promises doubled speeds compared to the previous version, ensuring faster downloads and smoother streaming on cellular networks.
Featuring a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display, the iPhone 17e delivers vivid visuals and is safeguarded by Apple’s durable Ceramic Shield glass to resist everyday wear and tear. Improved anti-reflective technology reduces glare for improved visibility in bright environments.
An exciting addition is the MagSafe feature, absent in the 16e, enabling faster wireless charging and easy attachment of compatible accessories like wallets and stands to the phone’s back.
Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the 48MP Fusion camera on the iPhone 17e, offering advanced sensor capabilities that effectively provide two focal lengths in one. It supports 4K video recording with Dolby Vision at up to 60 frames per second.
Safety features remain a priority, with emergency SOS via satellite for messaging without cellular coverage and Crash Detection to automatically alert emergency services in the event of a severe car accident.
The iPhone 17e will be available in black, white, and a new soft pink finish, with pricing starting at £599.
