Aldi has integrated InPost Lockers into over 500 of its stores in the UK. Shoppers can now conveniently pick up and return online orders while doing their regular grocery shopping at Aldi stores in England, Scotland, and Wales.
The supermarket chain plans to expand the availability of these lockers to more stores in the upcoming months, with a goal of having at least 600 stores equipped with lockers by the end of this year. Aldi, which operates over 1,050 stores, aims to enhance customer convenience and efficiency through this initiative.
Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, emphasized the importance of providing a seamless shopping experience for customers by introducing InPost lockers to their stores. He highlighted the value of saving customers time and money by offering a convenient solution for parcel collection and returns alongside their regular shopping routine.
Neil Kuschel, CEO at InPost UK, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with Aldi to enhance the overall shopping experience for customers nationwide. Together, they aim to provide a more convenient, cost-effective, and sustainable way for shoppers to manage their parcels efficiently.
In other news, Aldi has released an updated list of priority locations across the UK for potential new store openings. The supermarket chain is seeking sites that can accommodate both standard stores and the smaller Aldi Local format, particularly in Central London zones one and two.
Individuals with suitable sites matching Aldi’s requirements are encouraged to contact realestateacquisitions@aldi.co.uk. This expansion initiative is part of Aldi’s £650 million investment this year, with a long-term goal of reaching 1,500 stores in the UK.
Additionally, Aldi recently increased the pay rates for its store assistants, with hourly wages rising to a minimum of £12.75 and £14.05 within the M25 area. Further pay raises for store colleagues are planned for September 2025, with minimum rates set to increase to £12.85 per hour nationally and £14.16 per hour for those within the M25 region.
