“Urgent: Update Your Chrome Browser Now!”

If you are a Chrome user, it is recommended to promptly check your browser version in the settings and restart the application. This advice follows the recent release of an update by Google to address six vulnerabilities in the Chrome browser, one of which has been identified as a zero-day threat.

To ensure your browser’s security, verify that you are on the latest version – 138.0.7204.157/.158 for Windows and Mac, and 138.0.7204.157 for Linux. Security experts at Malwarebytes highlighted the importance of this update, especially in fixing the actively exploited vulnerability that could compromise systems without user interaction.

To check for updates and apply them, click on the Chrome menu and select About Chrome. If any pending updates are found, restart the browser immediately. This cautionary update comes after a previous zero-day bug discovery that prompted urgent browser updates earlier this month.

In addition to these vulnerabilities, security experts have warned about the risks posed by fake extensions targeting millions of Chrome users. Affected users are advised to reset Chrome entirely and clear browsing data for safety. Google has taken action to remove the malicious extensions to prevent further infections.

Remember to stay vigilant and keep your browser up to date to protect against potential security threats.
