Tim Pusey secures a place in the upcoming World Darts Championship, potentially posing a dilemma for event organizers due to his bold moniker. The 31-year-old, known as ‘The Magnet’ in competitions, earned his spot at Alexandra Palace by clinching three titles on the ADA Tour and finishing atop the standings alongside defending champion Luke Littler.
In his previous televised appearances at World Series events in 2018, 2019, and earlier in 2025, Pusey did not use a nickname. However, if required, he may have to adjust his moniker, following in the footsteps of World No 80 Owen Bates, who had to drop his nickname ‘The Master’ after it was deemed inappropriate by the PDC when he qualified for the World Darts Championship in 2023.
Luke Littler, the reigning champion who triumphed over Michael van Gerwen in January, will return to Ally Pally in December for the tournament, running from December 11 to January 3. Littler, showing continuous improvement, aims to surpass the legendary Phil Taylor’s record of 11 world titles, expressing confidence in achieving this feat with dedication and perseverance.
Despite falling short in the recent Premier League, losing to Luke Humphires, the same opponent who bested him in the 2024 world championship final, Littler bounced back by claiming victory in the World Matchplay, defeating James Wade in the final. The talented player remains focused on his goal of adding more world titles to his already impressive resume.
