Australian Sprint Sensation Gout Gout Eyes 2032 Olympics

Australian sprinter Gout Gout has set his sights on competing in the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane, inspired by the prospect of the prestigious event taking place in his home country. The 17-year-old has been impressing athletics enthusiasts worldwide with his recent performances and aims to shatter more records on his journey to his inaugural Olympic Games appearance. Notably, Gout currently holds the 200-meter sprint record with a time of 20.04 seconds achieved at the 2024 Australian All Schools Athletics Championship, surpassing Usain Bolt’s previous record of 20.13 seconds from 2003.

Gout’s rapid rise to fame has captured the attention of American sprinter Noah Lyles, a six-time World Champion and Olympic gold medalist known for his personal best of 19.31 seconds in the 100-meter sprint. During a podcast appearance alongside Lyles and American hurdler Grant Holloway, Gout expressed his aspirations of establishing his own legacy and becoming a role model for young athletes. He emphasized his desire to carve out a name as significant as Bolt’s and be a source of inspiration for the next generation.

Looking ahead to the upcoming Olympic Games, Lyles highlighted the unique opportunity for Gout in 2032, considering it a “perfect storm” brewing for the young sprinter. Gout confirmed that his ultimate goal is to compete in the 2032 Olympics, following his potential participation in the 2028 Games in LA. With ambitions set on both the World Championships in Tokyo and future Olympic Games, Gout is focused on his athletic journey and aims to make a mark on the track.

As the two athletes contemplate their future in sprinting, Gout plans to participate in the next two Olympic Games, likely facing off against Lyles, who humorously mentioned the possibility of retiring by the time the 2032 Games arrive. By 2032, Gout will be 24 years old while Lyles will be 35, with Holloway jokingly suggesting he will be in the stands as a spectator at the Brisbane Games, coinciding with his own 35th birthday.
