Royal Family Skips Easter Service for Family Time

The Duke and Duchess of Wales chose not to attend the Royal Family’s traditional Easter Sunday church service today, joining other absent royals. King Charles and Queen Camilla led the family at St George’s Chapel in Windsor for the annual gathering. The decision for the Waleses to skip the service was made to spend quality time together as a family over the Easter break, as disclosed by a source to the Mirror last week. Instead, present at the service were Princess Anne, Sir Timothy Laurence, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Prince Edward, and Sophie.

In a surprising turn of events, Prince Andrew and his former wife Sarah Ferguson made an appearance at the service. Also in attendance were the Earl of Wessex, Princess Eugenie and her spouse Jack Brooksbank, as well as Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

However, notable members missing from the event included Lady Louise Windsor, daughter of Sophie and Edward, who is studying at St Andrews University, and Zara Tindall, along with her husband Mike and their three children. Peter Phillips, Zara’s brother, also did not attend with his daughters, Savannah and Isla.

Last year, the Waleses were also absent from the service due to Kate’s battle with cancer. The family recently returned from a skiing vacation with their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Their holiday photos in a French magazine stirred controversy at Kensington Palace.

Earlier this year, the family vacationed on Mustique Island and went skiing in France. The monarchy faced a challenging year with both the King and Kate receiving cancer diagnoses almost simultaneously.

Kate underwent six months of chemotherapy, expressing relief upon completing the treatment. The Queen praised the King’s dedication to his duties, highlighting his commitment to service despite ongoing cancer treatment.

Last month, the King faced temporary side effects post-treatment, necessitating brief hospital observation. His appearance at this year’s Easter service marked a significant public outing following his cancer diagnosis, receiving support and encouragement from well-wishers.
