A man, 47, from Spain has been given a 19-year prison sentence for imprisoning and sexually assaulting his elderly mother in her own home. Identified as Rafael CDVM by Spanish media, he was found guilty in Cadiz of repeatedly raping his 83-year-old mother, who later passed away. The abuse was uncovered in Chiclana de la Frontera when two caregivers noticed blood on her undergarments. These caregivers had previously witnessed Rafael making threats of violence towards his mother. Social services were alerted, and the woman disclosed that her son assaulted her almost daily.
Despite her death seven months later, testimonies from caregivers, a social worker, and a forensic expert were presented in court. Rafael’s defense argued he had an intellectual disability, but medical experts determined he was capable of distinguishing right from wrong. In a separate case, a 27-year-old father, Santiago, was sentenced to 17 years for sexually assaulting and exploiting his seven-month-old daughter and sharing the abuse online. Santiago was involved in distributing child pornography and filming assaults on his daughter. He confessed to the charges and has been prohibited from contacting his daughter or exercising parental rights for a decade.
