Selma Blair’s Team Dispels Misinformation

Selma Blair’s team has come forward to address the incident that led to the actor’s arrest on October 11 during a flight to New York. In a statement to CBC News, Blair’s representative emphasized that the public narrative surrounding the event has relied heavily on a police statement and outdated information.

The actor faced accusations of injuring two flight attendants while traveling from Los Angeles to New York. Additionally, she was charged with assaulting a police officer and a nurse at the hospital where she was taken after the incident.

Blair, who appeared in court on October 12 and pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault, was released on bail. Her representative clarified that the incident stemmed from a medical emergency during the flight and emphasized that there was no intention to cause harm.

According to Blair’s attorney, the actor, who has multiple sclerosis, had missed doses of crucial medication due to a heavy workload and a head injury sustained during the flight. These factors, combined with the altitude, led to a state of confusion and disorientation.

The representative also addressed misconceptions about Blair’s health, highlighting her ongoing battle with multiple sclerosis and the challenges she faces, including pseudobulbar affect. The statement further mentioned Blair’s advocacy work for disability rights and her recent involvement in various projects, including a skincare line and a clothing collection.

This incident is not the first time Blair has faced issues while traveling by air, as she previously apologized in 2016 for behavior resulting from a mix of alcohol and medication. Despite the recent events, Blair’s team emphasized her continued advocacy efforts and urged a comprehensive understanding of the situation before passing judgment.
