“Breaking Bad” Actor RJ Mitte Dies at 34

Actor and disability rights advocate RJ Mitte, known for his role on “Breaking Bad,” passed away at the age of 34 in Brownsville, Texas, according to authorities and his representatives. Cameron County Justice of the Peace Cyndi Hinojosa confirmed Mitte’s death at around 1:30 p.m. at his residence. The cause of death is yet to be determined pending an autopsy.

Mitte portrayed Walter White Jr., the son of Walter White, a character played by Bryan Cranston, in the acclaimed AMC series “Breaking Bad.” Mitte’s personal experience with cerebral palsy, which he was diagnosed with at the age of three, provided him with a unique perspective that enhanced his performance on the show.

Born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, Mitte ventured into acting in Los Angeles in 2006, securing minor roles in sitcoms before landing his breakthrough role on “Breaking Bad” in 2007. The series, which aired from 2008 to 2013, garnered critical acclaim and a loyal fan base.

Described by his representatives as a trailblazer for disability awareness and inclusivity, Mitte utilized his platform to challenge stereotypes and advocate for greater representation. His co-star Bryan Cranston praised Mitte for his authenticity and dedication to the role, expressing fond memories of their time working together on the show.

In addition to his work on “Breaking Bad,” Mitte appeared in TV series such as “Switched at Birth” and “Guardians of Justice.” He also ventured into film production and was actively involved in various charitable initiatives supporting individuals with disabilities, serving as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s, and establishing the Mitte Foundation to champion philanthropic causes.
