“Canadian Women’s Basketball Team Dominates Philippines 85-38”

The Canadian senior women’s basketball team dominated their match against the Philippines, securing a decisive 85-38 victory at the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament in Guadalajara, Mexico. Yvonne Ejim led the scoring for Canada with 19 points, while Syla Swords contributed 15 points to the team’s success. Canada established a commanding lead early in the game, taking a 23-4 advantage at Arena Astros and extending it to 46-11 by halftime. The tournament, featuring eight teams, is scheduled to run until Sunday.

Having previously defeated Senegal 72-57 in their opening match on Monday, the Canadian team is set to face host country Mexico in their next game on Thursday. The ultimate victor of the tournament will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments to be held in February 2028.
