K-pop sensation BTS is under scrutiny from sections of their fan base following the appearance of two band members alongside controversial American artist Chris Brown at his concert in Toronto.
J-Hope (Jung Ho-seok) and RM (Kim Nam-joon) were present at one of the two shows where Brown performed alongside Usher at Rogers Stadium. BTS is set to grace the same venue with their performances on August 22 and 23.
A photo shared on Brown’s Instagram showcased J-Hope and RM posing with the singer, while videos on social media captured them enjoying the concert. Brown’s troubled past includes a criminal record and multiple assault charges, dating back to 2009 when he admitted to assaulting his then-girlfriend, singer Rihanna.
Despite facing legal issues, including a recent guilty plea for assault in a London nightclub, Brown continues to attract controversy. In 2015, he was denied entry to Canada, leading to the cancellation of scheduled concerts.
The images and clips of the BTS members with Brown have triggered mixed reactions within the ARMY, the band’s devoted fan base. While some fans expressed disappointment and distanced themselves from the group, others defended J-Hope and RM, suggesting they may have attended the show primarily to see Usher, not fully aware of Brown’s past actions.
As the debate unfolds online, with fans voicing contrasting opinions, representatives for BTS have yet to respond to requests for comments on the matter.
