A company in Saskatchewan is conducting drilling operations to extract hydrogen, aiming to demonstrate the feasibility of extracting it from the ground on a large commercial scale rather than relying on fossil fuel production methods. Recently, Regina-based Max Power Mining initiated drilling for its third well at the Lawson Complex, located in southern Saskatchewan. The company envisions establishing the world’s first extensive commercial natural hydrogen system, marking a significant advancement in the realm of primary energy sources.
Chad Levesque, the president and director of the company, emphasized the importance of hydrogen as a crucial element in various industrial processes, including the production of ammonia, petroleum refining, and transitioning towards cleaner energy sources. Recognizing the need for a more sustainable method of sourcing hydrogen, Levesque highlighted the potential of naturally occurring hydrogen as a promising alternative.
