A young girl was deeply disturbed and cried out in fear when she unexpectedly came across the body of a man during a physical education class at Smestow Academy in Wolverhampton. The 11-year-old pupil made the unsettling discovery around 10 a.m. today as she ventured onto the school’s playing fields.
The girl’s father shared, “My daughter called her mom in a panic, screaming, explaining that she found a lifeless body near the goal posts on the field. She’s just 11 years old. They were out for PE, and the morning was quite foggy.” The incident left the young girl extremely shaken, leading her family to take her out of school early due to the distressing experience.
Following the distressing find, one parent revealed on Facebook that it was their nephew’s class who stumbled upon the body. The school has offered counseling services to those affected by the incident.
The girl and her peers were the first group of year seven students to have a physical education session at the school that week, and no other students had been on the field before the discovery of the body.
Authorities have been called in to identify the deceased man and determine the circumstances surrounding his death. The school was closed based on police advice but is expected to reopen tomorrow. Students in need of support are encouraged to reach out to their head of year for specialized assistance.
West Midlands Police stated, “We are present at Smestow Academy following the discovery of a body on the premises. Emergency services were alerted around 10:40 a.m., and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigations are ongoing to establish the man’s identity and the details surrounding his death, resulting in the temporary closure of the school.”
