Luke Littler has acknowledged that he has not yet engaged in a conversation with Gian van Veen to resolve their heated dispute. The altercation between the two occurred during night nine of the Premier League in Manchester three weeks ago.
Van Veen claimed a contentious victory over the two-time world champion, accusing Littler of provoking the crowd when he missed crucial darts. Since then, tensions have persisted. Following his triumph on night 12 in Manchester, Littler disclosed that communication between them remains nonexistent.
Littler stated, “We have not spoken, but I am not inclined to initiate a conversation. Perhaps he expects me to approach him, but that’s not my style. Even in the practice area, others usually initiate conversation with me. I am not one to engage in idle chatter.”
He continued, “We can settle our differences on the dartboard. Backstage, everything has been routine. The preparation remains the same. I believe he has moved on from the incident, and so have I. If a discussion is necessary, I will initiate it.”
Reflecting on recent events, Littler faced a hostile reception in Liverpool but noted that it was less intense than the reception in Rotterdam. Despite the crowd’s reaction, he remained focused on winning, emphasizing his ability to perform under challenging circumstances.
Looking ahead, the Premier League will resume in Aberdeen next week. Littler is scheduled to compete against Josh Rock in the quarter-finals, while Van Veen will face Jonny Clayton in their upcoming match.
