British Traveler, 75, Dies After El Duque Beach Swim

A 75-year-old British traveler passed away following a swim at El Duque beach in Costa Adeje, Tenerife. Lifeguards aided the individual after being rescued from the water, with medical personnel attempting to revive him to no avail. The man, who recently turned 75, was confirmed as a British national.

El Duque beach, known for its strong currents and Blue Flag status, became the site of the tragic incident. It remains unclear whether the man was alone or accompanied by others. An autopsy scheduled in Santa Cruz will determine the cause of death, whether drowning or a health-related issue.

Emergency response officials reported that despite rescue efforts, including CPR by lifeguards, paramedics, and medical professionals, the man could not be revived. The incident was reported to the authorities, with investigations ongoing.

Last year, Tenerife saw multiple sea-related tragedies during storms, including incidents at the Los Gigantes cliffs leading to fatalities and injuries. As safety measures are reinforced, authorities remind beachgoers of the potential risks associated with coastal waters.
