“Fatal House Fire Claims Life of Woman in Limerick”

A tragic incident occurred as the body of a woman was found in the ruins of a house destroyed by a fire in Limerick, Ireland. The victim, reportedly in her 60s, was discovered at a residence on Chester Downes after the blaze erupted earlier in the evening. Firefighters swiftly responded to a report of the fire around 5:22 pm, reaching the location within four minutes but unfortunately finding the woman deceased inside.

Four units from the fire service’s city station were dispatched to the scene and successfully extinguished the fire by 7:15 pm. Authorities have secured the property, indicating no suspicion of foul play. Friends of the deceased woman fondly remembered her as a dedicated and hardworking mother.

According to a statement from the Gardai, an investigation is underway following the fatal house fire on the evening of January 17, 2026, in Singland, Limerick city. Emergency services were alerted to the incident around 5:30 pm, where the woman in her 60s was pronounced dead at the scene.
