“Pixel Phones Hit by Battery Drain Glitch”

An unsettling glitch is impacting certain Android devices, as users are noticing a rapid depletion of their phone batteries even when the devices are idle. This issue seems to have emerged following a recent software update. According to observations by the vigilant team at 9to5Google, Android users have taken to online forums to express their frustrations, with one individual mentioning the need to charge their phone three times a day to maintain battery life.

So, who is experiencing these problems and what steps will be taken next?

It appears that Google’s Pixel phone series has been impacted by this battery anomaly, with the tech giant in the United States acknowledging the issue and actively working on a solution.

The affected devices include the Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 7A.

9to5Google has indicated that the problem seems to stem from excessive CPU wakeups, causing the phone to remain active in the background even when not in use.

This issue has led to significant inconvenience for many users. For instance, a user named Phil shared, “Both my phone and my wife’s Pixel 7A have been experiencing this problem since mid-March. The phones drain suddenly from 20% to 0%, take longer to charge, and lose battery power while turned off.”

Another Pixel owner, Fz, noted, “Following the March update, my Pixel 9 Pro XL started facing battery drain issues. Now, I have to charge my phone three times a day post-update. The battery drains overnight even if the phone is not in use. I charge it fully before sleeping, and by morning, it’s down to 30%. It’s incredibly frustrating.”

However, it appears that not all Pixel users are encountering these challenges. Warren, for example, stated, “I have a Pixel 9 Pro, and I haven’t noticed any significant battery drain. It was fully charged at 6:30 am, and as I write this at 3:20 pm, it’s still at 79%.”

Undoubtedly, Google will investigate this matter thoroughly and is expected to release a corrective update soon. We will provide further updates on this issue as soon as new information becomes available.
