“Wetherspoons’ New Spain Pub: Higher Prices for Punters”

Punters at the newly opened Wetherspoons’ pub in Spain may find themselves shelling out more than they would back in the UK. Although the menu items and beverages remain reasonably priced, they tend to exceed the costs at the chain’s regular high street locations.

According to company officials, running pubs in airports comes with higher expenses, justifying the slightly elevated prices at the Spanish establishment. They highlight that the pricing at this new pub in Spain aligns with what customers would find at their existing sites in UK airports and railway stations.

For instance, a substantial breakfast in Spain goes for 10.25 euros (£8.84), while the average price in the UK is just £5.09.

To gauge the differences, the Mirror compared prices at the Wetherspoons’ pub in Alicante with those at their Solihull pub in the West Midlands and Gatwick Airport. It should be noted that some products vary in size and ingredients, adding complexity to the comparison.

Examples of items compared include a Margherita pizza, all-day brunch, classic burger, chicken, eggs, and beans, a pint of Stella Artois, Asahi beer, a pint of Greene King Abbot Ale, Guinness 0.0, and a 398ml Coca Cola or Pepsi.
