“Nintendo Rage: 11-Year-Old Charged with Father’s Homicide”

An 11-year-old boy shouted three alarming words following the alleged shooting of his father, who had confiscated his Nintendo games console. Douglas Dietz, aged 42, was discovered deceased with a gunshot wound in a quiet neighborhood in Duncannon Borough, Pennsylvania. His son, Clayton, is now facing charges of homicide.

Court records revealed that Mrs. Dietz awoke to a loud noise and a scent similar to fireworks in the bedroom before the boy entered and exclaimed, “Daddy’s dead.” State troopers who arrived at the scene reported hearing Clayton confess to his mother, “I killed Daddy.”

Clayton, who was celebrating his 11th birthday, reportedly became enraged when his father took away his Nintendo Switch a few days earlier. According to court documents, Mrs. Dietz was beside her husband in bed and only realized the tragedy upon seeing blood soaked through the sheets when she turned on the lights.

Following the incident, Clayton entered the room shouting, while Mrs. Dietz frantically attempted CPR on Douglas while waiting for emergency responders. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

During an interview with the police, Mrs. Dietz mentioned that the family had celebrated Clayton’s birthday the evening before the tragedy occurred, but things turned sour when they instructed him to go to bed.

The court affidavit indicated that the father stored the family’s firearm in a secured drawer, but Clayton confessed to finding the key, unlocking it, and searching for his Nintendo Switch. Subsequently, he admitted to taking the gun from the safe, loading it with bullets, walking to his father’s side of the bed, releasing the safety, and firing it at him.

The 11-year-old allegedly told law enforcement that he had not considered the consequences of shooting his father. Clayton was arrested on the day of the incident and charged with criminal homicide, with a preliminary court hearing scheduled for January 22.

Reports from local media revealed that Clayton’s parents had reached out to his school in the months leading up to the tragedy, seeking assistance for their son, who has autism and was displaying increasingly uncontrollable behaviors including sexual harassment, physical aggression, and theft.

Neighbours described the Dietz family as kind and reserved, expressing shock over the incident. The Susquenita School District in Perry County released a statement the day after the shooting, offering support to students affected by the tragic event.
