“Survivor Escapes Trafficking Nightmare”

A courageous woman has shared her harrowing ordeal of being abducted by a ruthless gang who planned to exploit her virginity and organs – and how she managed to escape the nightmare.

Lurata Lyon revealed that her virginity was traded to a depraved foreign buyer, and she endured being held at gunpoint while witnessing other girls being sexually assaulted to learn “how to please a man.”

Now aged 45, Lurata’s horrific journey began when she fled her Serbian hometown of Veliki Trnovac at 17 to evade extreme violence in war-torn Yugoslavia during the 1990s. Following the invasion of her village by an ethnic cleansing murder squad, she embarked on a perilous journey across mountains to Kosovo seeking assistance from the Red Cross.

Rescued by two US soldiers, Lurata’s safety was compromised when a local translator informed a human trafficking ring, leading to her abduction while innocently buying a magazine at a newsstand.

Blindfolded and taken to their hideout, she faced threats of assault until revealing her virginity, which prompted the captors to view her as a valuable commodity.

Recalling the chilling moments, Lurata recounted the gang’s intentions to sell her and engage her in prostitution, highlighting the terror she endured under the traffickers’ control.

Despite constant threats and coercion, Lurata found a brief window of opportunity when she heard a voice guiding her to escape, leading to a dramatic flight from her captors.

Rescued by a UN police officer after a confrontation, Lurata faced further challenges upon returning to her hometown, encountering more violence and captivity before her father orchestrated her escape from captivity.

Successfully fleeing the country, Lurata sought asylum in the UK, eventually becoming a British citizen and authoring her memoir “Unbroken: Surviving Human Trafficking,” expressing gratitude for the support she received.

Today, Lurata serves as a motivational speaker and public speaking coach in the UK, advocating for kindness and resilience in the face of adversity.
