“Windows 11 Update Causes Major C: Drive Issues for Samsung Galaxy Book Users”

Numerous Samsung Galaxy Book users are facing significant issues following a recent Windows 11 update. The update, pushed out by Microsoft, has led to severe problems with access to the crucial C drive on these widely-used PCs. A common error message being displayed states “C:is not accessible – Access denied,” preventing users from opening files and running various applications like Microsoft Outlook, Office tools, and specific web browsers.

The issue seems to affect certain model numbers including NP750XGJ, NP750XGL, NP754XGJ, NP754XFG, NP754XGK, DM500SGA, DM500TDA, DM500TGA, and DM501SGA.

Microsoft has acknowledged the problems, stating that some Samsung devices are losing access to the C: drive after installing the February 2026 security update (KB5077181) and subsequent updates. This results in the “C: is not accessible – Access denied” error, hindering file access and application launches, including Outlook, Office tools, web browsers, system utilities, and Quick Assist.

The issue is believed to be linked to Samsung’s Galaxy Connect app, which offers functionalities like screen mirroring and file sharing between Galaxy smartphones and Windows PCs. The app has been temporarily removed from the Windows app store until a resolution is devised.

Microsoft confirmed, “The affected Samsung Galaxy Connect application was temporarily removed from the Microsoft Store to prevent further installations. Samsung has re-released a stable prior version of the app to prevent additional device issues. However, recovery options for already impacted devices are limited, and Samsung is working with Microsoft to explore solutions.”

The timeline for a fix is uncertain. Users with Samsung PCs are advised to hold off on updating to Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2 for the time being. Those already on these versions should refrain from making any changes until a resolution is in place.
