A man accused of the murder of Victoria Hall, a 17-year-old from Trimley St. Mary in Suffolk over 25 years ago, has a history of convictions for killing five other women. Hall went missing after leaving her home on September 18, 1999, to visit the Bandbox nightclub in Felixstowe with a friend. Her body was found in a ditch in Creeting St. Peter five days later, approximately 25 miles away from where she was last seen.
Steve Wright, 66, previously residing on London Road, Ipswich, has been formally charged with the kidnap and murder of Victoria Hall, along with the attempted abduction of another female in Felixstowe. Wright has entered a plea of not guilty. The presiding judge, Mr. Justice Bennathan, has approved the disclosure of Wright’s prior convictions for five other murders to the jury before his upcoming trial at the Old Bailey next month.
During the pre-trial session on Wednesday, the defendant appeared in court via videolink from HMP Long Lartin and was detained in custody pending the commencement of his trial at the Old Bailey scheduled to commence on February 2.
