Anthony Joshua Survives Fatal Car Crash in Nigeria

Two individuals lost their lives immediately in the tragic accident involving the SUV Anthony Joshua was traveling in, as per eyewitness accounts. The British boxer was rushed to a hospital in Nigeria for treatment of his injuries. The incident occurred when Joshua’s vehicle, accompanied by his security team, collided with a stationary truck near Makun on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ogun state.

Reports suggest that the crash happened after a tire blowout caused Joshua’s vehicle to swerve and lose control. Local authorities, including the Ogun state traffic compliance and enforcement agency, are investigating the accident that involved Joshua.

An eyewitness named Adeniyi Orojo recounted the event, stating that Joshua was in a Lexus SUV with three other occupants when the crash occurred. Despite immediate rescue efforts by witnesses and the arrival of Federal Road Safety Corps officials, two individuals in the vehicle, including the one seated beside Joshua, succumbed to their injuries.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, confirmed that Joshua was safe and en route to the hospital following the accident. Joshua, who was in Nigeria, had recently defeated Jake Paul in a boxing match. The 36-year-old boxer, born in England with Nigerian heritage, is known for proudly representing the Nigerian flag.

After his recent victory over Jake Paul, Joshua hinted at a significant year ahead in 2026 and reignited his rivalry with Tyson Fury in his post-fight remarks. In a social media post, Joshua expressed gratitude to his supporters and hinted at exciting plans for the upcoming year.
