Authorities have made a desperate plea following a car accident involving a woman pushing a stroller that was struck on a sidewalk. The event occurred at approximately 4:30 pm today on the R617 route connecting Blarney and Tower in Ireland. The woman, in her thirties, and the infant were quickly taken to a hospital in Cork. The woman’s injuries are reported to be not life-threatening, and the baby was unharmed, leading to what a local firefighter described as a ‘miraculous’ outcome.
Individuals who witnessed the collision or were passing through the vicinity with potential dashcam footage are encouraged to contact emergency services.
A spokesperson from the Garda stated, “Gardaí and emergency services responded to the scene following a report of a car accident involving two pedestrians, a woman in her thirties, and a male infant, in Blarney, Co. Cork, today, Tuesday, October 21, 2025, around 4:30 pm. The pedestrians were taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. No additional injuries were recorded. The area was secured for technical examination, but the road has since been reopened. Gardaí are seeking witnesses, including those with dashcam or video recordings from the time.”
Local councilor Damian Boylan expressed his sympathy for the victim and praised the efforts of the police and emergency responders during the incident.
Boylan stated, “This was an extremely unfortunate occurrence; thankfully, there were no fatalities, but it must have been a terrifying ordeal. My thoughts are with the woman and her family. I trust that the Gardaí are diligently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
