“15-Year-Old Sensation Makes History at WDF Championship”

A remarkable 15-year-old darts player, Mitchell Lawrie, has impressed Luke Littler at the WDF World Championship held at the Lakeside stage. Lawrie made history by becoming the youngest player to secure a victory at Lakeside, defeating Tomoya Maruyama and Jason Brandon with exceptional skill, including hitting five maximums and displaying impressive checkouts.

Lawrie achieved a remarkable 97.21 average, the highest recorded in the tournament so far. Littler expressed his amazement at Lawrie’s performance on the WDF Darts Instagram account, calling him “a joke.”

After defeating Brandon in straight sets and advancing to the next round, Lawrie shared his excitement, stating, “I’m absolutely buzzing with myself.” Despite facing a tough opponent in Brandon, Lawrie’s fast start and solid gameplay secured his victory.

Lawrie’s impressive performance continued as he swiftly finished each leg within less than 15 darts in the first set. Although he narrowly missed a potential nine-dart finish, Lawrie managed a superb 134 checkout, delighting the crowd and himself.

Despite a slight setback as Brandon gained momentum, Lawrie refocused, showcasing his resilience and determination to clinch the win. Lawrie acknowledged his brief lapse in concentration but credited the supportive crowd for helping him regain his momentum.

Reflecting on his missed opportunity during the match, Lawrie dismissed any nerves and attributed the slip to external distractions. As Lawrie progresses in the tournament, his exceptional skills and composure have garnered attention and praise.

The upcoming PDC World Darts Championship, commencing on December 11, will offer fans exclusive live coverage on Sky’s Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, promising an exciting showcase of top-tier darts competition.
